What Coaching is Like
Length & Frequency
Coaching sessions are 50-minutes long. Initially, clients tend to find weekly sessions the most helpful for the first few months. Some clients continue on a weekly schedule and others choose after which they decide whether to every other week or another schedule (e.g., seasonal). While your ADHD brain will show up every day, my job is to work my way out of a job by helping you develop awareness and effective strategies for managing how it shows up and how you respond to its arrival.
Coaching Session Structure
Coaching is iterative. At the end of each coaching session, I'll ask, "So what's the work between now and our next session?" That work is usually the next session's starting point. A typical coaching session rhythm goes:

Reflect on work from previous session (5 - 10 min)

Effective? Continue, expand, apply to other contexts​

Ineffective? Identify barriers and either decide to continue that work or move on to different area of work

Identify and discuss topic for current session (~30-40 min)

Identify work for next session (5-10 min)
This structure works for many clients, but for some it does not. We'll figure out together early in coaching what structures and rhythms are most likely to be effective for you.
Coaching Session Content
If I've coached one person's ADHD, I've coached one person's ADHD. While there are a number of ways that ADHD shows up similarly among many ADHD'ers (e.g., challenges related to time), each client's coaching needs are unique.
Some of the many coaching targets I've seen more than once:

Developing discrete morning routines within defined bounds (of time or of task)

Noticing and arresting negative self-stories in the moment

Developing systems / practices so clients can regularly check-in on whether the actual thing-they're-doing/thinking-about matches their intended thing

Recognizing instances of thinking about what others might be thinking about themselves

Developing nightly routines that promote sleep and / or next-day productivity
