What Coaching is Like

Length & Frequency

Coaching sessions are 50 minutes long. Most clients find weekly sessions most helpful at first. After a few months, some continue weekly, while others shift to every other week or seasonal check-ins.

Your ADHD shows up every day—my job is to help you build awareness and strategies so you can respond effectively when it does. In other words, I’m working to coach myself out of a job.

What Happens During a Coaching Session

Coaching is iterative. At the end of each session, I’ll usually ask:
“What’s the work between now and next time?”
That often becomes the starting point for our next meeting.

A typical session follows this rhythm:

  • Check in on the previous session’s work (5–10 minutes)
    • If something worked: Continue, expand, or apply it elsewhere
    • If it didn’t: Identify what got in the way and decide whether to stick with it or pivot

  • Explore a new or evolving topic (30–40 minutes)

  • Identify a next step or between-session work (5–10 minutes)

That rhythm works for many clients—but not all. We’ll figure out early on what structure fits best for your brain and your goals.

What Do We Talk About?

If I’ve coached one person’s ADHD, I’ve coached one person’s ADHD.

There are patterns, sure—like struggles with time or overthinking—but every client brings their own unique mix.

Here are a few themes that come up often:

  • Building morning routines that fit within a specific time or task window

  • Catching and disrupting negative self-talk in real time

  • Creating ways to regularly ask: “Am I doing what I meant to be doing right now?”

  • Recognizing and de-escalating thoughts like: “What are they thinking about me?”

  • Developing nighttime routines that actually support sleep and/or a smoother morning

A Final Thought

Coaching isn’t about trying harder.
It’s about getting more curious, more strategic, and more aligned with how your brain actually works.

We’ll experiment, reflect, adjust, and repeat—together.
